5 reasons you might like Help (2026)

I’m Jason Kleeberg and this is Force Five, and today I’m going to give you five reasons you might want to watch Help, a horror short I found on YouTube.

Reason number 5, it’s short. If you’re like me, you’ve got responsibilities - a job, a significant other, a kid, making dumb YouTube videos, and all of the other things you have going on in life. Sometimes it’s nice to just sit down and watch something that lasts 10 minutes. I watched it while my wife was getting ready to go out…and then I watched like 5 other shorts. You’re in, you’re scared, and you’re out.

Reason number 4, Jim Cummings. Yes, Jim Cummings, one of my favorite film voices is only in this for a quick second, but any Jim Cummings is better than no Jim Cummings. If you haven’t seen Thunder Road, do yourself a favor and check it out for the opening monologue, I can almost guarantee you’ll be a fan.

Reason number 3, the monster looks great. Before I watched director Collin Black’s making of video, I knew that most of the monster was done with practical effects and makeup because you can tell, but there were some VFX shots added in post that are done to heighten the look and it all works seamlessly, which brings me to…

Reason number 2, it’s always exciting to see what talented people can do with limited budgets. Collin experimented with different types of shots, music cues (that didn’t always work for me, but that’s one minor criticism) and visual effects to make something that tenses and surprises in the time it takes to reheat your pizza in the oven. And yes, reheat pizza in the oven, the microwave dries it out.

And reason number 1, there’s a great twist at the end that is set up in the beginning which both surprised and delighted me. It’s always nice to have a macabre “oooooh” near the end of a movie that you didn’t see coming.

You can check Help out on YouTube, it’s on Collin’s channel which I will link down below. After you watch it, let me know what you think. Which other easily accessible horror shorts are worth a look? Let me know in the comments below or email me at forcefivepodcast@gmail.com.
